iTeach Kinder: Teacher Appreciation Giveaway!

How many of you are feeling just a little burnt out and exhausted this time of year?! I hope I'm not the only one! Have no fear, summer is on its way AND I've joined my friends over at iTeach Kinder for a giveaway celebrating teachers just like YOU!

You could win $25 to some of our favorite places: Target, Starbucks, Amazon, or TPT.

Why are these our favorites?! Here's a couple reasons...

I'm not a coffee lover, but I do love my iced peppermint mochas...even if the attempts at spelling my name are always wrong!

I finally took the plunge this year and subscribed to Amazon decision ever!!! I love the 2-day free shipping, but what I love more is all the music I have access to for instant listening! I stream classical or instrumental music all day long in my classroom. When we need to have a little fun, Kidz Bop it is!

Markdown Monday {ALL Week Long!}

I'm linking up with Kelly and Kim's Kindergarten Kreations for their weekly Markdown Monday event! Check out my Markdown Monday item below and then head over to their blog to see more great items at discount prices!

Last week my Kinders worked SO hard in their science notebooks! We've been learning all about plants, and I needed some activities to go in their notebooks. So, I created some differentiated interactive notebook activities about plant parts!

{Click on the cover to check it out!}

Look at all of our hard work!

Plant Parts

The beginning of our plant unit started off with naming and labeling all of the plant parts. Their favorite part of this whole activity was that they were allowed to color with markers after they labeled!

Plant Parts We Eat

After our delicious snack made up of all the plant parts, we worked on labeling all of the plant parts and drawing the food we ate from that part. This is one of my favorite snack activities to do with my class year after year. I love when they realize that all the veggies they eat are different parts of a plant! I'm so happy I finally have an interactive notebook activity to go hand-in-hand with this snack!

Tops and Bottoms

During reading last week, we did a close read of the book Tops and Bottoms which went perfectly with our plants unit during science!
This activity is differentiated and can be done with the flaps or simply use the labels provided in the pack to sort the pictures.

Also included in this pack are differentiated activities for plant needs:
(Colored by yours truly!)

This week only, the whole pack is marked down to only $2.50!!

So, What Are Brag Tags??

This is the question I get ALL the time!! And I LOVE answering it!
Every time I post a picture of brag tags on IG, I get asked these questions:
"How do you use these?" - "What are these?" - "Will older kids like them?" - "Where can I find these?" - "How do you store your tags?"
Have no fear! Today I'm here to answer all of those questions!!

Brag tags are small, rectangular pieces of paper that students can earn as academic and behavior incentives. Brag tags can be hung on backpacks or made into a necklace.

Brag tags are an inexpensive and easy way to reward students! You're ready to use the tags in just a few quick steps. Print, laminate, cut apart, and punch a hole - done!

Here's an example of some tags my students love working for...HOMEWORK tags!! If they complete all their homework for the month, they earn a monthly homework club tag. Notice all the checkmarks? They don't want to miss out on a tag!!!

Last year I purchased small ball-chain keychains off Amazon so my students could hang the tags on their backpacks. At the end of the year my students took the tags off their chains and made them into necklaces. This way I was able to keep the chains and they could leave Kindergarten with a brag tag necklace! This year I started using binder rings instead. Some of my students kept losing their tags because the chains were coming loose. The binder rings snap together nice and tight and we haven't lost any in awhile!
This girl has so many tags!

Last year I stored my tags in one of those bead/string boxes. It worked well, but wasn't perfect. The tags are a little longer than the box, so the box didn't close. I could deal with that, but... space was becoming an issue. Too many tags, not enough room.
Enter last summer's project: create a teacher toolbox with lots of space for brag tags!

Best decision! I bought the toolbox from Lowe's, spray painted the top half orange and created labels for the tags I'd use the most.  They fit perfectly in the drawers, and I'm able to stack a couple different tags in each drawer. Lots of storage space now!

There's nothing wrong with starting brag tags this late in the year! Get your feet wet and see how your kids respond. Do you teach upper elementary? Definitely try them out! You never know what your kids will respond to and what they'll work for! I have some ideas for tags that will appeal to upper elementary children, but I'd love to hear your ideas too! (Leave it in the comments.)

I've had these Earth Day tags in my store for awhile, but I just got some new Earth Day clip art from Graphics From the Pond so they got a quick update! They're FREE, so try out some tags and see how you like them!
Trust me, your students will become hooked and will love earning them!

Another new month, another Currently with Farley!!

I got hooked on Arrow in the fall, but the problem was that I needed to catch up on the first 2 seasons. I'm finally caught up to the episodes I recorded on my DVR ... time to watch all 10 of them so I'm up to date!!

I'm in love with 3-day weekends! That is all.

There's only a few hours left in my giveaway over on the iTeach Kinder blog! Head on over to read about my Read-Trace-Write-Glue Sight Word Sentences and enter to win the full pack!

One more thing for you to do! But you'll like it, promise!

I really want you to check out the new Educents Marketplace!! If you don't know about Educents, they offer great discounts on digital and hard good products for teaching. Now you can shop in the stores and get more great products!

I need to remember that the grocery store is closed on Sunday so I need to get that done today or tomorrow! (One of my many least favorite chores!!)

EGGS-plain your name:
I have a minor obsession with apple "things" - not eating apples and not Mac products... just apple stuff! When I started blogging, I knew I had to have an 'apple' name. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know my name over there is @peaceloveapples... I got into the IG game a little late and my blog name was taken!
