Winter Trade & Grade!

I'm so excited to be sharing an absolutely amazing Arctic pack with you today!!
Keri from Enchanted Kinder Garden created everything you need for a unit study on The Arctic with her All About the Arctic pack. My Kinders and I dug into this pack, and I have the pictures to prove it!!

We started the week by using the PowerPoint which is full of photographs and facts about every Arctic animal you could think of! I also printed a few of these pages to hang up around the room.

We focused on polar bears for a few days, but everything you see here for polar bears is also in this pack for the 17 other Arctic animals!!
Together, we made this graphic organizer with everything we had learned so far about polar bears.

Then we got to writing!! I have never seen my students so focused and engaged. They went to work right away filling in the bubble map with all the facts they had learned.

The next day, we took out our bubble maps and wrote three facts (using full sentences!) on the "All About Polar Bears" page. I was so proud of their writing! We've really been struggling with writing this year. Having the bubble map as a planning page and then writing the facts really helped my students gather their thoughts and form sentences.
This pack has the perfect pages to help young students with nonfiction writing!!

There's more than just printables in this pack!
Real-life photographs of the 18 different Arctic animals are also included in this pack.
I hung these up around the room to go along with the polar animals write the room that I have up right now.

Don't miss out on this awesome resource for your Arctic unit!
Also included in this pack are KWL printables and anchor chart header cards, "are, can, have" printables, animal name cards for anchor charts, and a nonfiction book about all the Arctic animals.

The Power of Positivity! Jan. 4th

I'm linking up with Miss Peluso's new Power of Positivity linky!
I love the idea of sitting down on Sundays and thinking about all the positives from my week. My husband is very, very big on being positive, and I do try hard to stay positive as often as possible! As my hubby always says, you need to focus on what you want to attract ... the positive!
Make sure you head over to Miss Peluso's Kindergarten to link up! At the end of the month she'll pick 1 person who linked up to spend $5 in her TpT store.

Although I must go back to work tomorrow (and I'm positive that I'm not ready to go back!!), I had a fantastic winter break and made many memories! Here are some of the highlights from my week!

Proof of my hike!
We made it to the top! That's the Blue Ridge Parkway curving through the background. Absolutely breathtaking!! I'm not the best hiker and I wouldn't choose to do it daily, but it's always worth it in the end!

Have a great week and happy new year! And remember, STAY POSITIVE!!

It's CURRENTLY January??!!

Happy New Year!!!!
It's not that I can't believe it's a new year, I just can't believe it's already January. I feel like it was just Thanksgiving and I was looking forward to winter break...

Anyways, it's once again time to link up with Farley for some Currently action!

Listening: It's New Years day... of course football is on the TV.
(Still depressed about my Gators but let's move on...)
Loving: We're in North Carolina for one more day visiting with some friends and I just love sitting in their living room by the fire. It's so peaceful (and freezing!!!)

Thinking: I'm really loving this winter break thing and I'd like another week, or two, or forever please!! It's been a rough year, and I'm just not ready to go back...

Wanting: I would love a teacher work day! I'm not even close to being planned for when we go back and I have so much filing and organizing I could get done without the kids!! Guess I'll have to wait until mid-January...
Needing: I'm not a big baker, but we're making these tonight and I can't wait to dig in!

YES: I was soooo close to reaching my reading goal in 2014 but I fell short by a few books. I will meet my goal this year! 65 books!!
MAYBE: I would love for my hubby and I to go on a little vacation. It's not that we never go anywhere (we're in NC right now, remember?!), but we're always visiting family and friends. I just wanna get away!!
I WISH: I would love to reach my first TpT milestone this year, but that's a pretty far stretch! However, my hubby is always talking about the power of positive thinking so I'm just going to go with it!!
